I am particularly interested in representative, plein air painting because “being there” gives me my best chance of getting accurate light and color effects in scenes that catch my attention. Painting plein air also means the paintings are small format and are completed in a single setting. I try to paint-out several times a week, year round. While I was trained and have a career in Louisiana as a consulting geologist, art has always been a keen interest. I began plein-air painting in 2000, taking workshops at Scottsdale Artists’ School and Friedricksburg Artists’ School from Matt Smith and John Budicin. Most of my subjects are rural scenes, close to home in Baton Rouge.
