David Cotton

Born in Jonesville, Louisiana, Cotton has lived his life in New Orleans. Cotton received his B.A. from Xavier in Fine Arts and Arts Education. Since then, he has taught art in the public schools for over 35 years. After retiring, he is able to devote full time to painting the unique neighborhoods of the city, from the Warehouse District to the Lakefront. “I try to capture the beauty within our changing world. Whether that be in light, color, form or just human interaction. When all the words have been said, art carries us to a higher level”. Cotton coined the term “The Big Easy ”in the 1950’s.
