Diego Larguia, a New Orleans artist, was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He moved to the States in 1991, and studied with Don Anderson, Jerome Weinberger and Phil Sandusky at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts. He is now a faculty member there. His painterly realist landscapes are done en plein air, around the neighborhoods of the city, especially the Irish Channel where he lives. Influenced by such diverse masters as Sorolla, Sargent and Monet, he says his objective is to capture that specific point in time and place, just as it is presented to him, communicating his perspective. His compositions are filled with light and air with solid underlying draftsmanship.
